Co-Wife Chronicles

Whether you are already a co-wife, considering becoming one, or simply trying to understand polygyny through the lens of Islam know that you are not alone. Our faith gives us the clarity and strength to navigate the complexities of marriage monogamous or plural with dignity, faith, and purpose. Polygyny (a man marrying up to four women) is permissible in Islam, but it is not a command or a requirement it is a concession, granted by Allah with clear conditions: “And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one...” —Surah An-Nisa (4:3) “And you will never be able to be equal [in feeling] between wives, even if you should strive [to do so]. So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging...” —Surah An-Nisa (4:129)
